Quantitative Determination of Carboxyl Groups in Cellulose by Complexometric Titration
نویسندگان
چکیده
Complexometric titration was used to determine the carboxyl group content of a series of oxidatively treated (selective and non-selective oxidation) nature cellulose fibers (cotton). The results were correlated with those obtained from the conventional methylene blue method; both methods show an excellent correlation. The progress of the cellulose fibers oxidation was monitored using viscosimetric determination of the molecular weight. The content of carboxyl groups depends on the oxidation procedure and it is, in the case of selectively oxidized fibers, twice as high as the content of carboxyls in raw fibers. The carboxyl group content for non-selectively oxidized fibers increased by approximately 180%, relative to untreated fibers. The results of our investigation demonstrate clearly that complexometric titration is an excellent tool for monitoring the influence of chemical modifications on the carboxyl group content. This method is sensitive enough to determine small changes in the content of functional groups for chemically modified fibers. __________________________________________________

Complexometric titration was used to determine the quantitatively the carboxylic groups present in Guna protein resin(GPR).The method is sensitive enough to detect small changes in the number of functional groups in the protein .The various concentrations of the samples used showed that they contain in majority a tetra functional carboxylic content. The variation results from increase in concen...

A simple complexometric method for stepwise determination of lanthanum, strontium and manganese in Lanthanum-Strontium-Manganate (LSM) has been worked out. The method involves joint titration of the elements with EDTA at pH 10.0 followed by selective precipitation of strontium as sulphate from a homogenous solution involving displacement reaction between EDTA complex of strontium and ZnSO4. The...

The acidity constants of some amino acids (Am) were determined by potentiometric pH titration. The stability constants of the 1:1 complexes formed between M2+: Ca2+, Mg2+, Mn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ or Zn2+ and Am2-, were determined by potentiometric pH titration in aqueous solution (I = 0.1 M, NaNO3, 25°C). The order of the stability constants was reported. It is shown that the stability of the bi...
